Saving money
I will tell you a short story which is true of many entrepaneurs wishing to have their own website.I helped a young man who wanted to have a professional looking web site. Thinking he could do it himself he had bought Microsoft's "Front Page Editor" and started his page. The page he made was poor and he knew it but he decided to publish it anyway. He bought his domain name through a registry company but they told him he needed a server before the domain name could be activated. He figured he got a deal at $70 to register for 2 years and $20 a year to refer his domain name to the server of his choice. He didn't want to use a free server because of the banner ads so he found a banner free server for $15 a month and signed up only to find that if he wanted to use "Front Page" it would cost him another $7 a month (this is common since Front Page requires special extentions not needed by normal editors) When he came to me he was paying $310 a year and out of pocket another couple of hundred for his "Front Page". I made him a professional looking page for $400, took over his domain registration and switched him to a better server for a total of $75 a year saving him $235 a year. |
